Ordering too much. Lots of individuals that find themselves chunky have more than an consumption predicament, we have an ordering crisis. We may well live through eater’s sorrow later nevertheless we stand in the fast food line knowing we shouldn’t even be there in the first place although justify it with time or cost. Next we hear that all to common line, “Will I take your order please?“. Here’s where our errors compound drastically. “Of course , I’ll have that huge of a sandwich crammed with a full day’s calories“, we answer in more tolerant expressions. We say to ourselves we will order less tomorrow. The fast food industry knows how to operate a company and they have trained their employees well, “Would you similar to fries with that?” or “would you akin to to make that a meal?“. We give in since it’s practically like receiving the drink at no cost, right? You know what is coming next… “Would you comparable to ‘upsize, biggy size, large size etc.’ that?“. We are very familiar with the routine, we at once say, “Agreed “, before we give 2 seconds to think about the conequence. We don’t want to have to ponder in relation to it. We are aware we are overeating all the inappropriate things and we’ll distress it later although right now we’ll enjoy the high-calorie, high-fat feast laden with a bunch of pleasure and very inadequately sustenance.
It’s no wonder 57% of American adults are overweight according to the CDC. Every corner is crammed with two things – gas stations and fast food restaurants all contending for your corporation. No one knows advertising better than the fast food business. We can’t go ten minutes in the city without seeing a giant succulent burger on the side of a bus or a roadside bill-board announcing the latest ‘deal’ waiting for us just a half mile up the street.
Fast food restaurants know loads of will walk in just to purchase a small sandwich to tie them over for a while. The restaurant niche also understand customers and they know a great percentage of those penny-pinching and health aware individuals can be altered into better profits. Poster and life-sized, full color advertisements intentionally situated assault you from every direction before you even stride up to the window. There’s no escaping them. Even the drive-thru has slick professional ads lining the path. These are high quality graphics touched up better than a super model’s front page photograph. You can roughly taste that wonderful happiness, no expense has been spared.
We consume every bite of the food we purchased. We shove those self disciplining feelings back until we are finished. After all, we don’t want to squander food, right? I totter out of the eating room feeling too full and tired. We know how to deal with this proverbial feeling, that’s not a drawback.
The only way to defeat our over-ordering disorder is to realize we do it and get a grip on it. First of all, pack a healthy lunch and keep out of diners at all costs. Start looking at the advertising strategy in a different light. Respect the promotion message or get infuriated at it, whatever helps you not fall for it. Most importantly, know that smaller portions are going to be a truth of life if you are going to loose weight. It takes very little food to cut back hunger. We just have to eat until we are no longer hungry, not until we are gorged. All we need to do is listen to ourselves. We know right and wrong. We have become pros at pushing reason and logical consideration away for instantaneous indulgence and over indulgence. Don’t be frightened to step out of the line and walk it off.
